Haro stands for Help a reporter out and is a way to get free publicity for your business and website and can lead to really good traffic if you are referenced as a source for a major newspaper.

It is basically a way to get in touch with a reporter who is researching a story and give them your input.

You sign up and choose which topics you would like to get notified of when a reporter needs a hand, when a reporter needs a hand they send out a notification which goes to everyone who has selected that topic, these are called HAROs.

For the last 10 years article marketing has been a staple for getting traffic to your websites. By submitting good quality articles to the major search engines you get traffic in return, or that’s the theory anyway. I found that unless you get top rankings for the keywords your targeting then it’s only worth the backlinks.
